Glade Meadow
On February 17 2018 i snowshoed into Glade Meadow a good 3 mile loop which doesn't sound like much until you experience it. it was an extremely difficult day as i had expected from the first step over the edge into the deep snow upwards of 7' + deep and snowing very hard with a fair wind coming out of the east. usually there is or are snow mobile tracks to follow and it makes hiking into this field much easier, today was not that day. No one had been down here in a few weeks. as such blazing trail through fresh powdery snows are an amazing amount of energy and work. my ski poles extend to all of 5 feet. and they were 3' in this snow "every" strike.
I ask myself why i go out here every time whence i am standing in the middle of everything and absolute quiet and nothing at the same time. knowing i have to get myself out of here. it's an hour and a half getting in here, and took me all of 3 hours to get back to the truck. trudging through snow 7 feet deep, uphill is no small feet.
I love it out here and it is very secluded there are no birds and no animals this day. only trees wind and snow and the small stream which wandered through the bluffs of snow 8 feet down to base ground as the water ran silent in slush.
